Tour Kongou

The Kongou waterfalls, situated in the heart of the Ivindo National Park, are among the most beautiful and impressive waterfalls in the African forests. Kongou can be reached by pirogue from Makokou (a day trip by car or one hour flight from Libreville), going down the Ivindo river for 3 to 5 hours.
The Ivindo waters flow slowly between thick primary rain forest. Groups of islets, different types of forest, flights of African grey parrots offer the unique experience of a trip along one of the last African rivers which have not yet been inhabited by people.
Guides of the ethnic groups Bakota, Fang and Bakwélé lead small groups through the virgin forest to discover the beauty and the extraordinary variety of plants and animals, providing details of the forest’s products. The guides show the traditional methods used to track forest elephants, gorillas, chimpanzees, bush pigs, etc., in the forest.

Alternative tours

Upon request, several days trips in the forest can be organised – during the dry season it is possible to reach, by pirogue and car, the clearing of Langoué in collaboration with the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) - and it is also possible to visit the populations living North of Makokou, the gold mining camps and the Minkébé National Park, in collaboration with the WWF.

The tour "Parc National Loango - Parc National Ivindo" is operational thanks to Scd-Aviation flights.
